Not sure what instrument your child should learn? I help them discover it. The Music Discovery Program is a series of 4 x 1-hour sessions designed to introduce children to a range of instruments in a fun, supportive, and pressure-free environment. Through hands-on exploration, guided play, and listening activities, children are encouraged to experiment with sound, rhythm, and technique—allowing their natural interests and strengths to shine. Rather than guessing or committing too early, this program helps children build confidence, curiosity, and musical awareness while discovering which instrument truly resonates with them. By the end of the four sessions, families gain clarity and direction, making the next step in their musical journey an informed and exciting one. Perfect for beginners, curious minds, and children who want to explore before choosing their path. Week 1 The program begins with a one-hour introduction designed to get to know your child and your family. I will spend 30 minutes with the parents discussing your child’s personality, interests, learning style, and previous musical experiences. Then, I spend 30 minutes with your child exploring music through playful rhythm games and musical activities, helping them feel comfortable while observing which sounds and instruments spark their curiosity. Week 2 & 3 During the second and third sessions, your child will explore a range of instruments across two weeks. Spreading this process out allows them the time and space to engage without feeling overwhelmed. They are encouraged to play freely, experiment with different sounds, and try simple techniques in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. This gentle exploration helps reveal which instruments truly spark their curiosity and excitement. Week 4 - Part 1 The final session is a one-hour wrap-up designed to bring everything together. The first half of the lesson is spent with your child, revisiting their chosen instrument(s) through musical play, guided activities, and confidence-building games. This final play-through allows your child to feel settled, successful, and excited about their musical direction. Week 4 - Part 2 The second half of the session is spent with parents, where we talk through the personalised Music Discovery Report. This includes a clear summary of your child’s musical strengths, the instrument(s) best suited to them, and the reasons behind these recommendations. You’ll also receive practical guidance on next steps.
